Shootout with Joshua Joseph and Sara

Pi Studio collaborated with Adil Mufti Photography for the portfolio shoot of musicians Joshua Joseph and Sara. Sara is an accomplished vocalist having performed in choirs and stage plays, whereas Joshua is a famous drummer and is known for his work at MAD (Music, Art and Dance) School at Zamzama.

The location of the shoot was Anthonian Apartments (behind Shapes Health Club). Some shots were taken in Joshua's home and the majority of the shoot was done in the apartment complex.

Cameras:

• Nikon D300

• Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 VR
• Nikon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-D
• Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM
• Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D

Triggers:

• Photix Triggers and Receivers

Flashes:

• Oloong Sp-680 flash gun
• Konica Minolta Flash gun

Other gear:

• Black reflector umbrella and stands.

Setup and shots:

• Shots in Joshua's room were taken with traditional bounce flash. 

• The setup of the shoot in the apartment complex was done through two strobes (one with reflector umbrella and one shooting directly) being activated by radio triggers. Some shots were taken with a single strobe to emphasize shadows.

• The shoot was done at ISO ranges of 250 to 800, with the f stop being from f/5 to f/5.6.

• The portraits were shot with one light source to achieve "Rembrandt lighting" (for Sara's portrait click here).

• Post processing was done in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.4 for tonal corrections) and were then later further refined in Adobe Photoshop CS 5.
